The primary role of a Market Development Manager will be to act as an extension of the health and fitness brand and sales team. This individual will personify our client’s mission statement / motto, possess key brand personality traits and excitement that will resonate with retail sales associates. Market Development Managers are passionate about health & fitness and excited by technology and how it benefits people’s lives. The ideal candidate will also be a natural narrator, and will be able to explain how our clients product specifications and it’s technology translate to simple consumer health and wellness benefits.


  • Build our client’s health and fitness manufacturer’s brand loyalty and brand credibility with retail sales associates

  • Establish and build retailer relationships on behalf of our client

  • Advocate on behalf of the brand to increase retail sales associates’ rate of recommendation of the brand

  • Engage retail sales associates and create excitement

  • Conduct in-store retail sales associate trainings--either 1:1 or in small/large groups focusing on product knowledge, device features, competitive advantages, specifications, and functionality

  • Engage a store’s customers during high traffic times during demo day events in stores to drive sales of brand products in key market locations

  • Merchandising services: Deliver POS and POP marketing collateral or products to retail locations along with verifying product and display compliance and competitive details

  • Ensure merchandising compliance and positively effect product presence in-store

  • Monitor POP / POS materials to ensure it is current and placed according to planogram

  • Mystery shop store locations to understand a retail sales associate’s brand recommendation, assess their product knowledge, obtain sales associate comments and concerns as well as consumer comments and concerns and provide in-store observations of the brand and of the competition

  • Report market intelligence regarding the program and the store environment

  • Act as the voice as well as the eyes and ears of our client’s brand.

  • Other duties as assigned by management


  • Degree in Communications, Marketing, or Training & Development preferred

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of retail, marketing or agency experience

  • Field representative experience helpful, but not mandatory

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in training and communications


  • Strong presentation and communication skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication is required

  • Must be proficient in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and Power Point applications

  • Ability to travel within assigned territory and out-of-market assignments, as required

  • Available to work Monday thru Friday and occasional weekends, as needed

  • Must meet all pre-and post-employment requirements, including but not limited to background check and motor vehicle review
