POSITION TITLE: Medical Physicist I
JOB SUMMARY Addresses problems related to diagnosis and treatment of human disease by performing the following duties..
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Applications Acts as a resource to the Physician(s), Dosimetrist(s), and all partners as it relates to the diagnosis and treatment of Cancer patients. Provides professional services in all aspects of Therapeutic radiological physics including external beam radiation therapy, IMRT, LDR, and HDR Brachytherapy, general diagnostic, radiation safety, acceptance testing and commissioning of new radiation therapy equipment according to established protocols. Assists and provides direction in radiation safety programs, clinical consultation, patient treatment and set-up consultation. Assists with patient set-up, field placement, simulation, and CT as needed. Checks all calculations on new patients. Completes weekly patient chart review. Oversees precise planning and delivery of radiation treatments. Serves as a consultant to hospital administration and relating departments.
Linear Accelerator Quality Assurance - Simulator Quality Assurance Responsible for all aspects of Quality Assurance on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis as outlines in the Physics Quality Assurance Manual.
Treatment Planning Computer/Water Scanning Equipment/Other Equipment Acts as a resource to the Dosimetrist on complex plans. Coordinates service with the manufacturer and installs updates as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned. Uses appropriate scripting, barriers, and patient identifiers as required per position.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, & EXPERIENCE
Graduate with a Masters of Science in Medical Physics One year Medical Physics internship Two years of extensive dosimetry training
ABR Board Certification strongly recommended
