State of Georgia Vehicle Operator /CAI in Decatur, Georgia

Performs duties related to community based activities for developmentally disabled adults.


  • Coordinates Community Access Individual activities for adults with developmental disabilities

  • Coordinates monthly schedules for Community Access Individual staff

o Identifies and/or develops community connections and partnerships

o Interviews clients to obtain desired community connections

o Participates in community connections with individuals

o Ensure team is reporting changes in an individual’s behavior and/or emerging medical concerns to manager or supervisor within 24 hours of discovery

o Work with clients/consumers and families with scheduling community connections

o Perform record keeping duties, including but not limited to schedules, community connections, and community outing calendars.

  • Participate in ISP meetings for assigned caseload.

o Using person-centered tools, instruct and advises individuals on daily living skills in one-on-one community-based settings.

o Counsels and advises individuals on behavior challenges, daily decision making, and the resolution of minor problems.

o Prepare and document client progress and services provided according to guidelines in case management system.

o Report changes in individuals’ behavior and/or emerging medical conditions to manager or supervisor immediately upon discovery.

o Ensures community activities are person-centered and completed according to program guidelines

o Complete program and agency trainings and certifications as assigned.

o Work to promote agency’s mission, vision and values through interactions with internal and external customers.

o Provide toileting assistance to individuals as needed.

o Provide transportation according to programmatic needs.


  • One year experience providing social or direct care services to individuals with disabilities in a human service setting OR Associate degree in a related field OR one year experience at the lower level or position equivalent.

  • Valid GA Driver’s License, CPR/First Aid, CPI, Proxy, Annual MVR.


Incumbent works cooperatively with departmental staff, individuals, families and external professional organizations.


Required to work 40/hours a week, Monday through Friday. General work hours will be 8:00 am - 4:00pm but are subject to change based upon programmatic needs. Work will be done in facility as well as community setting. Occasional requirements to work at other DeKalb CSB facilities will also be necessary.

Requires regular lifting and carrying, including assisting individuals when required. Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.
