Job Overview

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to join our Information and Process Management (I&PM) team? Reporting to the manager, networks, you will be accountable to provide leadership and strategic and technical direction to our outsourced vendor management partner for the provision and efficient operations of infrastructure network services. You will ensure our vendor partner meets or exceeds the reliability and service level objectives of our internal business customers.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead and advise our outsourced vendor management to achieve the best performance and quality while reducing cost

  • Govern the vendor execution of incident, change and problem management to meet or exceed contractual commitments

  • Provide key input into future infrastructure wireless and network strategy

  • Manage our wireless and network technologies to meet or exceed the technical security standards and policies

  • Ensure critical wireless and network infrastructure meets disaster recovery requirements

  • Evaluate new technologies and trends and make recommendations that positively impact our business needs

  • Contribute to the strategic direction and implementation of continuous improvement

  • Coordinate our original equipment manufacturer in the delivery and support of our infrastructure

  • Validate radio frequency link performance, quality and reliability

  • Contribute to defining our standards, policies and processes for network operations

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • 10 or more years of network infrastructure operations experience; oil and gas industry experience is an asset

  • Five or more years of experience in supporting corporate and industrial wireless networks in an outsourced vendor model is preferred

  • Computer science degree or technical college diploma (e.g. S.A.I.T.)

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong technical knowledge at the enterprise level for wireless networks with specific knowledge in Wi-Fi, pervasive Wi-Fi, Wi-Max, satellite, microwave and SCADA technologies

  • Advanced knowledge of an enterprise level network including: WAN/LAN, MPLS, optimization, load balancing, satellite, cloud computing, routing, switching, QOS, TCP/IP and IaaS

  • Skilled at using non-authoritative leadership to manage large global vendor firms with the ability to hold them accountable and meet contract deliverables

  • Ability to work effectively with various sizes of highly focused and geographically dispersed teams and effectively manage rapidly changing business priorities

  • You are a dynamic self-starter that collaborates well with multi-disciplinary teams and thrives in a fast-paced work environment

Working Conditions

  • The position is on-call 24/7 with the need to have remote access ability via phone and computer
