Windows Systems Administrator, Senior

Key Role:

Maintain responsibility for supporting the administration of a Windows server environment running on a VMware virtual platform that will be part of an on-call rotation. Maintain operations, new and ongoing IT initiatives and upgrades, new software evaluations, and support for all production, staging, development, and disaster recovery environments. Manage the appropriate configuration baseline of operating systems, software applications, and security compliance. Work with monitoring tools, including Active Directory, and assess and interpret the requirements of systems and applications and their hardware, software, and operational needs. Implement efficiencies through automation, including leveraging PowerShell, Power CLI, and batch jobs to automate manual and repetitive processes. Investigate new technologies and provide recommendations on system improvements and life cycle planning.

Basic Qualifications:

-7+ years of experience in engineering systems administration with Windows server operating systems and services, including Active Directory, WINS, DNS, DHCP, and GPOs

-5+ years of experience with advanced VMware concepts, including vSphere Distributed Switch (vDS), Site Recovery Manager (SRM), vSphere Storage I/O Control (SIOC), VMware Network Virtualization and Security Platform (NSX), and Update Manager

-5+ years of experience with providing SCCM/SCOM administration support in a mixed and growing environment supporting Microsoft Windows server 2008 R2/2012 R2, Microsoft SQL 2008/2008/2012, Windows 2007 and 2010, VMWare 5.x and 6.x., and RHEL 5x-6x

-3+ years of experience in working with PowerShell, Power CLI, and Windows batch scripting

-Experience with engineering, implementing, and operating Microsoft Windows Servers, VMware ESXi/vSphere, Solarwinds, HP hardware, McAfee ePO, Active Directory, EMC VNX, and NetBackup

-Experience in automated deployments of OS images with VMware templates

-Experience with operations and monitoring best practices, including capacity, performance, and security and SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor (NPM)

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:

-3+ years of experience with HP Blade Server hardware, including Onboard Administrator (OA) and network switch configuration, firmware, and driver upgrades, parts replacement, racking, stacking, and cabling in a data center environment

-Experience with troubleshooting and identifying root cause issues

-Experience with Cloud services, including Microsoft Azure Cloud or Amazon AWS deployment, management, and migration

-Experience with a hyper-convergence environment or migration

-Experience with DR/COOP

-Experience with ServiceNow

-Experience with project management a plus

-Experience with Windows Server 2016 deployments and migrations a plus

-Experience with network engineering or deployment a plus

-Experience with toolset integration, including Manager of Managers a plus

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-Public Trust clearance

-BA or BS degree in an IT-related field

-Microsoft MCSE or related technical certifications
