Job Summary

The Advanced Process Lab is a unique facility with equipment that is dedicated to developing & optimizing processes for the Manufacturing Design team. Your role will be to lead the execution of metrology projects while collaborating with a wide variety of engineering teams.

Key Qualifications

  • Technical bachelors degree preferred

  • 3-7 years of hands-on metrology lab programming and measurement experience

  • 3-5 years of experience programming CMM and OMM machines

  • Experience with Zeiss Calypso software required

  • Experience with GD&T measurement techniques required

  • Experience measuring or characterizing surface finished using interferometry a plus

  • Experience with production measurement fixture design a plus

  • CAD experience in conjunction with off-line CMM programming a plus

  • Strong mechanical aptitude required

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a wide variety of concurrent projects

  • Ability to complete report-outs and communication of work completed is requiredDescription

In this role, you will be responsible for metrology lab equipment that is used to measure and quantify Apple mechanical enclosures. Programming and support of metrology equipment will involve the following tasks:

-Develop metrology processes from metric 2D prints and 3D CAD models using CMM and OMM equipment to inspect dimensions

-Collaborate closely with machining engineers to provide measurement feedback

-Use GRR studies to validate measurement methodology and equipment accuracy

-Develop sub-micron surface finish scanning processes using confocal and interferometry equipment such as Alicona, Zygo, and Sensofar.

-Demonstrate ability to use traditional layout tools - height gage, surface plates, calipers, micrometers, thread gages, etc.

-Complete layout of first article and 32 piece Cpk studies

-Concise report outs of measurement data collection and conclusions will be required

-Measurement projects will span many types of Apple components and materials

-Candidate will be required to train on equipment to enhance working knowledge

-Yearly travel, possibly international, up to 5% as required


BS in Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or equivalent desired
