As Performance/Simulation/Application Senior Engineer in the Engine System Mechatronics and Data Analytics group in Industrial Power Systems Division, located in Mossville, IL, you will support the growing engine data analysis team in developing analysis tools to provide engineering problem resolution and design criteria. As a highly motivated individual team member you would work with two established engineering leaders to execute analysis needed to support Caterpillar I6 engineering design, CPI, and NPI. You will serve as an experienced, individual contributor on projects and assignments that are complex in nature and that support and enhance Caterpillar product performance, durability, reliability, quality, and serviceability.Specific responsibilities will include creating processes and tools utilizing remote monitored data to significantly improve engine availability and enhance product development and assist in implementation of these processes and tools on major and tactical engine NTI and NPI programs. Tasks will include the development of data mining processes and tools for data collection, aggregation, feature extraction, analytics modeling, and forecasting reliability and durability of Caterpillar engines. Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Data aggregation, specifically the access, collection, cleaning, and sub-set identification to prepare data for analysis. Custom code will be required. Data analysis - the application of knowledge to data to draw conclusions. Statistical methods are expected where appropriate. Visualization creation Collaboration with team to create actionable recommendations Execution of independent work, having deadlines, leveraging one's Caterpillar network to efficiently execute tasks. Engine advanced diagnostic and prognostic conception, development, testing, and validation Engine life cycle and component damage model conception, development, testing, and validation NPI and CPI team member responsible for data and analytics Coaching and training new employees in data techniquesBasic Qualifications:- A minimum of a M.S. degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering- At least 8 years of engine domain expertise, combined with progressive engine engineering and analysis experience, with at least 3 years of experience on 9L to 18L I6 design and system integration (both engine and aftertreatment systems).- Greater than 4 years of experience in data driven engine health and condition monitoring algorithm development and monitoring.- Greater than 4 years of experience with programming languages of Python, MATLAB, and SQL- Experience in data visualization tools and packages (i.e. Tableau, OSI PI, Power BI, etc.)- Hands-on experience with Pro-E/Creo, teamcenter, SIS, SIMS, TMI, HVC, FMEA tools, etc.- Experience in working with various databases like Teradata, OSI PI, etc.- Experience using analysis tools like DATK, Dynasty, Minitab, @RISK- Strong proficiency in statistical and analytical methods- Experience in the manipulation and analysis of both time series (continuous) and transactional dataTop Candidates will also have:- Experience in data driven engine performance trouble shooting, root cause analysis and problem resolution- Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) and Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) development- Experience enabling big data and batch/real-time analytical solutions- Experience in data base systems such as OSI Soft a nd Teradata- Experience developing and validating advanced analytical prognostic, diagnostic, and damage or life-cycle algorithms- Experience with engine products in multiple applications or product lines- Demonstrated initiative to investigating new methods for problem solving and data analysis- Demonstrated initiative in analyzing product data to incorporate emerging technologies- Demonstrated strong analytical skills- Demonstrated communication, initiative, interpersonal and collaboration skills- Demonstrated experience in technical mentoring and coaching- Demonstrated leadership skillsRelocation assistance is available for this position.
