The Plant Utility is an active member of a production team that will assist in manufacturing building components to ensure Morton Buildings’ highest quality and standards are met daily.
Work with other plant workers in a safe and organized work environment as part of the regional plant team and fulfill duties as assigned by the Supervisor or a Lead
Work in a safe manner and contribute to a safe workplace in a fast-paced and changing environment
Learn Morton Buildings’ standards and methods for safety and operating procedures, and apply them to daily production
Read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, standard operating procedures, parts prints and work orders, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Operate plant manufacturing equipment safely and efficiently to effectively produce quality work
Treat company property, equipment, tools and machines in a way that respects the investment
Self-motivated with a positive attitude and good work ethic
Willing and able to continuously improve in job performance and job development, and learn various job functions, such as operating heavy equipment
Active listening, learning and reading comprehension skills
Willing and able to take direction
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand or walk, and is occasionally required to sit (including the possibility of driving forklifts)
Willing and able to work in a physically demanding environment, including moderate to loud noise levels, situations that may include high climbing and in various weather conditions (heat and cold)
Able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly; up to 75 lbs frequently; up to 100 lbs occasionally
Able to pass a basic math test
Willing and able to pass a pre-placement physical and drug test
Reliable transportation to work every day
Willing and able to work year-round, regular overtime hours and off-hours, as needed
