Kforce has a client in search of a Production Support SQL DBA in Edison, New Jersey (NJ).Summary:The Production Support SQL DBA provides 2nd and 3rd line operational support for client's internal IT infrastructure and systems in the company's 24x7 hosted environment. You will be required to take ownership of problems through to resolution over a wide variety of systems and technologies and will have strong experience supporting enterprise Microsoft Windows Server environment, Microsoft Exchange, VMware ESXi, AIX, Cisco UC, IP networks, and SAN technologies.Responsibilities:

  • Ensure internal database systems are managed to the highest standard by following industry best practice

  • Demonstrate good problem management ownership and prevention of SLA breach under Incident/Problem Management processes

  • Actively contribute to the development of existing and new IT process and procedures to enhance service transition and service operation lifecycle stages

  • Demonstrate self-starter capabilities identifying areas of improvement and taking action in order to address service impacting issues

  • Provide operational support for the Windows/SQL Server database environment

  • Responsibilities include database backup/restores, daily checks, maintenance tasks, and building new database instances and applying service packs

  • Manage and escalate problems as appropriate

  • Must have strong operational support experience of Microsoft SQL Server in an enterprise Windows environment

  • Experience of providing production support activities for business-critical databases/applications

  • Experience in working with ticket systems such as Support Works or Remedy and an understanding of priorities and SLA's

  • Strong experience of providing cross training on technologies and operational processes to colleagues

  • Must have a solid understanding of database disaster recovery technologies including SAN replication

  • Knowledge of ITIL framework (understanding of Incident, Problem, Change)

  • Strong documentation and technical writing skills

  • Must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Have excellent time management and organizational skills

  • Ability to plan and implement technical changes without unexpected disruption to the service and with minimal oversight

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other operational support teams in to support the service
