SUMMARY

The Applications Development Developer is motivated to combine the art of design with the art of programming. Responsibilities include translation of the UI/UX design wireframes to actual code that will produce visual elements of the application. Works closely with the UI/UX Designer and bridges the gap between graphical design and technical implementation, taking an active role on both sides and defining how the application looks as well as how it works.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop functional and appealing JavaScript enabled web- and mobile-based applications

  • Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs

  • Use a combination of markup languages to write web pages

  • Assist back-end developers with coding and troubleshooting

  • Create cascading style sheets (CSS) that are consistent across all browsers and platforms

  • Maintain graphic standards and branding throughout the product’s interface

  • Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability

  • Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and trends

  • Promote usability best practices

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline with a programming focus or equivalent technical experience

  • Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS3

  • Basic understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as SASS or LESS

  • Proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, such as jQuery, Angular, or Backbone

  • Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX

  • Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them

  • Good understanding of SEO principles and ensuring that application will adhere to them

  • Experience with MVC or MVVM design patterns

  • Experience on high-availability, high traffic, consumer-facing web sites that have a strong focus on SEO results

  • Experience in Agile environments

  • Solid oral, written and interpersonal communication skills

  • Work well individually and as part of a team

  • Ability to demonstrate working code they have crafted

  • Working knowledge of the following is desired: Visual Studio, Team Services (TFS), and Git version control
