UNC Health Care CLINICAL ADDICTIONS SPECIALIST - ALCOHOL AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE in Chapel Hill, North Carolina

The function of the Alcohol and Substance Abuse Program is to provide a comprehensive treatment program for alcohol and substance abuse patients including capability for: evaluation and diagnosis of substance abuse disorders; diagnosis of psychiatric conditions coincident with alcohol and substance abuse, consultation to clinical services on medical and/or psychiatric treatment including detoxification from alcohol or other drugs; recommendations for addiction treatment; motivational counseling of patients to seek treatment; facilitation of admission of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Program patients into addiction treatment programs; and addiction treatment services. We have an integrated approach and provide integrative services to other medical departments. The employee will provide individual, family and group therapy to patients in the program. Our philosophy is that addiction is a symptom of something else that hasn't been identified, or hasn't been in treated.

The clinician must share that philosophy and be passionate about peeling layers back to treat what is underlying.

This position requires flexible hours to cover group therapy one day per week, or additional coverage when necessary. Applicant must be licensed or provisionally licensed LCSW, LPC.

We would prefer an applicant to be an LCAS or provisionally licensed.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) or Counseling.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of social work or human services field.

One (1) year of experience in Social Work or Counseling.

Licensure/Certification:

Licensed to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of North Carolina.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Must have knowledge about pharmacological treatment for addiction and/or other mental illness. Must also have knowledge of ASAM criteria and evidence based models utilized in the treatment of substance abuse disorders.
